Oiioli: This song was written in the months following my trip to Peachtree City. My daughter and I just kinda hung out and put this together. The bass solo is just one of the licks from earlier in the song. It was one of those I had to learn AFTER writing it. Re-recording the sections I had initially patched up in the first place. Hilux: Hilux was written at Peachtree City during my 3 weeks training for work. It was inspired by whistlindiesel videos of the same subject. This one just came together very naturally. Strombo Attack!: was written in the key of E at Peachtree City, but I rewrote it in B after returning. It sounded heavier. It was only natural I made it as heavy as I could. Project: was written during the final stages of mixing and mastering. I had recently tried new strings on my Les Paul and this was the first thing I wrote with it. Felt inspired and fleshed it out to a full song. I wanted some more neutral tones for the song. Something more calming. Bliss: Bliss was the next to last song written on the album. This was a variation of the ending of The Veil of Perception and Dance of Reality. I liked it but it did not fit the original song. So I used it here! Sixes & Sevens: an experimental intro and outro. I was toying with some of my drum machines and synths. Liked the sound and went with it. The main lick is in alternating 6/4 and 7/4 patterns. The Veil of Perception and Dance of Reality: was written between 2012 and 2023. Obviously the bulk of it in 2022. I wrote the melody in 2012 but could never place it. In may of 2022 I fleshed it out some more. Completing the bulk of writing in November of 2022. It's about perspective and how we as humans have seemingly lost all sense of perspective. |
